Over 50 to 64 years of age - FLU VACCINATION APPOINTMENTS
We are now taking bookings for the free annual FLU vaccinations for the age group over 50 to 64. This is a new cohort this year so please make every effort to arrange an appointment. We have arranged clinics intially on the 16th December. Please see below details and instructions on how to maintain safe conditions in the surgery.
Please telephone the surgery to arrange your appointment. Members of the same family can be seen in a family (bubble) appointment.
There will be strict distancing measures in place. It is expected that patients will adhere to the 2 meter distance whilst waiting in the building. All patients will be required to wear a face mask/covering or visor. You may not be seen without a suitable face covering.
To manage patient flow we are booking longer appointments than usual and will need the co-operation of patients to attend on time for their appointments, no earlier that 5 minutes before to help prevent larger number of patients in the waiting room at the same time.
UNDER 65s - At risk
We are still taking bookings for patients under 65 with underlying health conditions. IF you are under 65 and have had the vaccination before please contact the surgery.

E-Consultations via the Website
Patients are advised that from 1st June we are accepting E-Consultations via the website. You will be able to send in a consultation form which will be received by the clinical team and dealt with within a maximum of 48 hours. This service will not be suitable for urgent requests, but will allow a GP or Nurse to review your request and will advise treatment, triage, prescribe or advise to make an appointment. This service will be available 24 hours a day.
Emailing Patient Queries
Unfortunately we are unable to respond to direct emails from patients, if you need to contact us regarding a clinical issue, please use the E-Consult option detailed above. This is a safer system which allows us to gather more detailed information. Direct emails outside of this system may not be responded to.
*****Coronavirus Update- URGENT*****
URGENT UPDATE November 2020
During Covid-19 we ask that patients do not come to the surgery unless invited to do so by the practice. We are trying to protect vulnerable patients, and practice staff. We have also reduced some of our services so we can focus on managing patients with Covid-19.
We are still able to assess and advise patients remotely about any concerns they may have which are not Covid-19 related. You can contact the surgery by telephone and online. If a clinician thinks that you need to be seen they can arrange for an appropriate appointment or perform a video consultation.
Patients who are invited to be seen in surgery we ask that you now bring to wear your own face mask/protection to help protect both yourself and the staff in the building. This is also needed to ensure that the practice stock of face mask protection does not run out.
For prescriptions please request by telephoning the practice or online by visiting woodlandmedicalpractice.org.uk
Please note that until further notice the practice will be triaging all calls. No face to face GP appointments will be made by the receptionist, you will be given a telephone call back from the GP who will determine whether there is a need to be seen in surgery.
We are encouraging all patients to nominate a pharmacy whereby we can send your prescriptions electronically and you would be able to pick up directly from that pharmacy.
We will also advise regarding the availability and provision of the Covid - 19 vaccination campaign once we have the detail from NHS England.

Following recent guidance we would like to advise parents that we will need written permission for anyone, other than the person with legal responsibility for the child, to bring that child for treatment to the surgery. This applies to grandparents, child minders etc. Forms are available in reception or on the website parental consent form – please let us know if you are happy for others to act in loco parentis on these occasions by completing a signed agreement which will be kept with your child’s records.

Patients should be advised that from 1st October 2018 the practice will no longer issue prescription requests which are hand written from Outpatients clinics. The reason being that it is considered that :-
Hand Written prescriptions are not safe, they are often not legible and do not always contain enough information about why the medication is needed.
It is also part of the Hospitals obligations to provide GPs with a typed letter within seven days of any clinic appointment following which we would aim to prescribe requested medication within five days of receiving these letters.
There are three dedicated disabled parking space at the side of the practice. Directly opposite this space there is easy access to the building. Should any patient have difficulty entering our main doors a member of staff is readily available to assist and can be contacted via our intercom facility. Within the building there is easy access and suitable toilet facilities. Patients who are hard of hearing or require additional help should inform our reception staff.
A free text message service is available to advise patients of appointment bookings and reminders. If you would like to use this service, please complete the form below and bring to the reception.
